We All Have A Calling

 

Making a decision to focus the direction of our life is an extremely responsible act.  Finding our true direction requires undergoing our own private inquisition.  Because life offers us total freedom to make choices, that sometimes complicates our ability to narrow our focus.  Sifting through the many options open to us creates confusion, tension and restlessness.  But remember that life is an evolution.  Where we are today does not mean that is where we must stay for the rest of our life.  We always have the option to change, no matter our circumstance, a thought many fail to capture.

The ultimate use of our life is to be able to follow our interests, fully develop and use the talents we possess and to have all of this coated with personal happiness.  Doing what we like to do.  That is the calling.

What detours has life moved you through?  Have you found true happiness doing what you now do?  Can you really see options to move in new directions of your choice?  Are you committed to making your life everything it was meant to be?  How hard are you willing to work to make all this happen? 

            Commit to spend whatever time is needed to seriously think through the path your life has taken.  If you find yourself on the “back roads” and you want to drive on the Interstate, it’s necessary to pull out the road map to see how to get back on the right road. 

            Understand that everything begins with your thinking.  Pay attention to your words (both internal and external conversations) because they paint a picture of your thinking to the world.  Build that inner confidence to accomplish your calling with a strong attitude and positive dialog.  Focus your energies on working your plan and planning your work.  Reflect on your achievements, evaluate your accomplishments, adjust your game plan and resolve to never, never give up.

            Life is not a spectator sport.  This is not a dress rehearsal.  It’s the real thing.  Get into the game and give it all you have.  What are you waiting for?

USP just might be the most important piece of information that you can learn about yourself.  What is USP?  It is your Unique Selling Proposition-those special characteristics that only you possess.  It is the differentiation between you and your competition.

            In business, it is the reason customers buy from you rather than from your competition.  For you personally, it is the set of factors that would make an employer or client pick you over the competition.  It’s the reason you get promotions over your peers.  It is the cornerstone of success.

            What is your personal USP?  What is the USP of your place of work?  Ask your customers.  Ask your friends.  Ask your competition.  Ask everyone you can think of to give you input.  When you find the common thread, you’ve discovered your USP. 

            Use USP to improve your position in the marketplace.  It’s critical information no business or individual can afford to ignore.

Three Tips That Will Change the Course of Your Business or Career

 

Looking for the magic rocket to propel your business into orbit?  Here are three tips that lead the pack of ideas on how to do just that.

In the past, have you concentrated on building a network of friends, prospects and clients to build your career or business?  Beginning now, remove the word network from your vocabulary.  Instead, substitute the word, relationship.  When you change your orientation to building relationships rather than building a network of contacts, you will take a giant step in changing your thinking and your success ratio.  Go beyond getting a phone number and address.  Start a sincere effort to be a friend, supporter and all around good person with everyone you meet.  Nurture a sincere friendship based upon caring, not manipulation.  When you start caring about people and developing a serving attitude, you build relationships, not a network.  Try this new approach.  You’ll find this piece of advice to be a gold mine.

Do you know the best way to get a referral for your business?  It’s so simple most never appreciate the value.  Here is the greatest secret to building a strong referral base.  Each time you meet someone, send him or her a personal hand written note.  Express thanks.  Express appreciation.  Express genuinely how honored you were to meet them.  Try this for the next thirty days on a daily basis and watch what happens.  This idea alone might be worth thousands to your bottom line.

Finally, identify the top ten or twenty people who are your cheerleaders.  Make them your “A” list of contacts.  These can be your top income source clients or simply individuals who can refer you to others who might use your services.  Each month, send this list something.  It can be an article clipped from a newspaper or magazine of interest to them.  It might be a copy of your book if you are an author.  It might simply be a note thanking them for past business.  The real secret is to make contact each month.  Then, sit back and watch the results.  They will astound you!
