New and Improved
For
the past several weeks, I’ve been working with my Webmaster, Dean Smart, to
upgrade my web site,
www.searchingforsuccess.com, and the format of my monthly E
newsletter. Thanks to Dean for a job well done.
In an effort to continue offering
educational opportunities, some of you will be first-time recipients of this
newsletter. I sincerely hope you find value in the message of this
complimentary newsletter.
Four Steps To Secure More
Income and Personal Happiness
1. Be Willing To Change Old Habits.
We are creatures of habit because we are most comfortable in a constant
environment. Change makes most people nervous so they willingly settle in a
rut of habits that ultimately hold them back. To become more, we must be
willing to stop our own inertia. We must be willing to conduct a deep
examination of our habits. Pay attention to the improvement suggestions
given to you by your supervisor during performance reviews. Pay attention to
comments by your co-workers, family, friends and yes, those who don’t like
you. Look deeply into your own soul and be willing to admit your weaknesses
and resolve to rid yourself of the chains of mediocrity holding you back.
Make a list of the habits you want to change. Pick one and concentrate on
incorporating it into your daily habits for one week. During the second
week, work on the second habit and continue to practice the first habit. In
the third, work on the third habit and continue practicing the first two.
Repeat the process until you have gone through your entire list. Then, start
over again. Do this for one year and you will have made more improvement
than 95% of workers do in a similar time frame. You are now well on your way
to positive change and greater career opportunities.
2. Develop a Vision of Who You Want To Become.
Without vision, the people perish! So says the bible and there is
no greater book of truths. If we have no vision of our future, we will be
willing to settle for whatever comes. When we bring focus to our life,
change is willingly embraced and progress results. Examine your passions and
build them into your vision. Passion produces positive possibilities. Focus
feeds fires of desire and determination. Again, by building vision, you
separate yourself from 95% of your competition also seeking better career
opportunities.
3. Develop Action Steps to Accomplish Your Vision.
Nothing happens until we act. Listen to the words of the Nike
commercial-Just Do It! Start with
the end in mind. You’ve developed the vision. Now, what will it take to
make it a reality? Identifying these steps is really developing the action
you need to put into place. Every day, commit to some action that takes you
a step closer to your vision. Each week, exam your habits and resolve to
only do those things that accomplish your vision. Like airline pilots, make
corrections so you maintain your course. Soon, you will begin to see
dramatic results and the momentum of positive change will help carry you
forward.
4. Pray A Lot.
Yes, you read this right. I’m asking that you pray for your success. We
cannot and will not do it alone. We need spiritual assistance and prayer is
our conduit to getting the attention of our spiritual boss. This is a
partnership that pays handsome dividends because a strong spiritual mindset
provides the energy to change habits, to create our vision and to work our
action steps.
Well, now you have it-four steps to
the top. Don’t underestimate the effort it will take to work this seemingly
simple plan. Accomplishments in life only come our way after we have worked
hard. The path to a successful life is filled with obstacles and naysayers
who want us to remain as they are. Work this plan and you will become more
than you have ever thought you’d become. Take the journey few are willing to
take and then enjoy the success few ever experience.
Life is filled with choices. Are you willing to make these?

Tip of the Month
This is a new feature for our readers. It
is a “keeper” you can put into action now and see immediate positive results
in your career, personal life or both.
Before you go to bed each night, ask
yourself these two questions:
1.
“What
new information did I learn today that, if applied, can make a difference
tomorrow?”
2.
What action did I avoid today that would have made tomorrow more
successful had I implemented it today?
The perpetual learner will always lead the
pack. Don’t settle for being the second best you can be. Become all that
you are capable of being by using daily evaluations of your actions and
achievements. Winners are willing to do what losers won’t. Which do you
choose to be?
