The Most Valuable, Essential Things In Life
No one is born neutral! We all come into the world with enough “basic wiring” to conduct a
current. Whatever “charge” we make on the world depends upon how well we tap our own natural resources. My belief is that all
of us have sufficient talents and skills to do what we truly desire to do with our lives. Notice I didn’t say,
“Wish to do.” I said, “Truly desire!”
Difficult Questions
What is your true desire? What have you defined as your life’s purpose? What do you
want the world to remember about your time here? What difference do you want to make? These are very tough questions that
demand much thought to get meaningful answers. The strength of the answers depends directly on how well you use your pool of
talents and skills. Here are four valuable, essential things we bring to life that help maximize these natural skills
Our Ability To Think!
No other living organism has the brainpower we possess. However, most people are reluctant to practice this skill.
They want everyone else to think for them. They just want to do and not think.

Share Your Ideas About Parenting Skills
I will shortly begin to write my third book, Teaching Your Child To Succeed. The book is
attracting a high degree of interest from literary agents and has a strong possibility of being published by a major house.
Would you like to be a part of this important project? If so, why not send me your tips on parenting that you’ve learned as
you’ve raised your family. Don’t overly concern yourself with grammar or sentence structure. That is my job and my editor’s
responsibility because we do reserve the right to edit your submissions. However, we will acknowledge any tip used. I’ve got
plenty of information but I think it would be neat to include your ideas as well. Please email
your tips to
barcement@eatel.net. I expect the first draft to be complete by the end of the year. I’d love to hear from you and include
you in my book.
Building Your
Knowledge Arsenal
What are you doing to get smarter? If you are a long-time reader of this newsletter or if
you’ve been in my audience, you know how much emphasis I place on perpetual learning. You never want to end the day as smart as
you were when you woke up. Always strive to learn something new each and every day of your life. Here are seven suggestions to
move you up the food chain of knowledge:
- Review your local newspaper every day. Keep up with the happenings in the world and in your local area.
Read articles of interest and scan the editorial page and special interest stories.
- Listen to daily news (local & national), even if you are traveling. It’s quite interesting to listen to
the nightly local news in another part of the world.
- Initiate a reading program. I now read one business book each month and at least two or three books on
other subjects. Vary the subject matter of these selections in order to broaden the depth of your knowledge.
- Go to an occasional movie to keep up with what the industry is emphasizing and what audiences are
attending.
- I’ve begun to write a list of words I come across that I don’t know the meaning. Look them up and strive
to use them in conversation over the next few days.
- Hang around people who will challenge your thinking a bit. It’s good to look at other views, get
involved in lively discussions and, in general, stretch your brain a bit.
- Subscribe to magazines such as Fast Company that contain cutting edge ideas on business trends.

Tip of the Month
Looking for a “magic formula” to get promoted in your career? Why
not try this suggestion from my book, Searching for Success: Look around your place of employment for a responsibility
not being done by anyone that you can do. Then, ask permission to do it. Do an outstanding job with the new responsibility and
your boss will become your best cheerleader. Don’t let gaps in responsibility go unfilled in your work environment. They just
might be your ticket to a better place in your career path. I know this works because that is exactly how I moved my corporate
management career up for 27 years prior to starting The Results Group. Don’t overlook the simplicity of this idea and the
powerful impact it makes.

pretension, and you are guilty of neither. I think you did a masterful job.”
