It's a New Year
Another Set of Broken Resolutions?
January is famous as a time we renew our commitment to improve our life. It’s my favorite time of the year because I get personal
energy from the idea of becoming a better person and achieving a new set of dreams. But, staying on course requires a strong
disciplined approach to everyday tasks. We must design a plan and a vision that we believe we can achieve and are willing to pay
the
price to accomplish.
Resolve to avoid making another deposit in the junkyard of broken resolutions. Spend more time building detailed plans rather
than a
half-hearted blueprint. Schedule the necessary activities that will bring your plan into reality every day. Pick yourself up when
you fall down and forgive your weak moments. Build strength of character with a resolve to never quit until the end result you
seek
is accomplished.
Keep the memory of your vision burning in your mind. Every day review your dreams and commit to doing the daily tasks required.
Find a friend who will encourage and support your dreams. Pray a lot for spiritual guidance and strength.
This time next year, you will want to say, “I did it.” Now is the moment in which you can do one step. Now is the moment you can
complete one task. Now is the moment you must capture to bring your resolutions into reality. No more broken dreams or promises
to
yourself. That is how you create a defining moment and avoid creating another set of broken resolutions.
A Leadership Idea
You are the leader of your life. No one can do your life for you. It is your responsibility. Capturing the concept of
personal responsibility for our achievements and failures is the most mature thought one can have. Life owns us no debt. It is
our responsibility to capture the gifts life offers.
Take charge of your life and you will begin to sense an energy that is unstoppable. Lead yourself to success—a great idea for
this New Year.
Tip of the Month
“Every action has value. Everything counts!”
Nothing happens until we act. All the knowledge in the world is useless if
we do nothing with it. Accomplishment only comes when we do something. Overcome the inertia of failure by working your plans. If
you never forget that all action has value, you will begin to crystallize how to achieve your dreams.
Incorporate the habit of examining the results of all your daily actions. To make everything count for value, make sure the
actions you take are valuable.
Questions To Consider
Here are six questions followed by an action step, if properly
answered and acted upon, will make a dramatic difference in the coming year.
1. What are the most important values that drive your actions?
Make your list.
2. What is the greatest personal achievement in your life? Compile a “Victory List” of all your proud moments for as long as you
can recall. Read that list when you feel a need for a lift in your spirit.
3. What is your favorite quote? Start collecting inspirational quotations and use them for inspiration.
4. What are your priorities in life? Record the activities you do each day for the next two weeks. Compare your activities to
your priorities.
5. Do you have an action plan to build knowledge? Keep a list of all the books you read in the coming year. Commit to read at
least one per month.
6. Do you look forward to each day in great anticipation? Develop your goals for 2003. Let them be such that you are inspired to
act each day to make them a reality.
